FAQ’S

I’M A COMPLETE BEGINNER, CAN I STILL COME AND TRAIN?

Of course you can! Many people come and train with our association from varied backgrounds and with different levels of experience in martial arts. Our sessions are mixed ability and cater for all, regardless of age, gender, weight, size, ethnicity or experience. Everyone has to start somewhere! We have a team of black belts and junior instructors on hand, so help will always be there so you settle in to life seamlessly at North Wales Chinese Kickboxing, just turn up in loose and non-restrictive clothing and get stuck in.

I’M NOT VERY FIT, WILL THIS BE AN ISSUE?

Your current level of fitness is exclusive to you and will naturally improve as you continue to train with us. Sessions are mixed ability but we’ll make sure our instructors help you to improve at a pace which is comfortable for you. The only thing we ask for in return is effort!

CAN I PARTNER WITH ANYONE?

Within reason, yes. We prefer to partner everyone so you’re both of an equal size and weight. Simply put, it would be irresponsible for a tall person to partner with someone half of their size and weight! You should always train with someone you’re happy and comfortable to train with, and the best scenario is always to bring a friend along with you to sessions. If this isn’t possible though, one of our black belts or junior instructors will be happy to step in and work with you.

CAN KIDS COME AND TRAIN?

Yes. We provide a training environment which is suitable for kids and families. Kids will need to be at least 5 years old to train in our kids sessions. If your children will be training, we’ll have black belts and junior instructors on hand to help them but please note parents will not be able to stay within the building and watch. The gym, respectfully, is for those training and instructing only.

DO I HAVE TO FIGHT?

No. This is entirely optional. Beginners to the club are not allowed to compete until they’ve been with the association for at least a few months and all instructors are happy that they’re safe to step into this environment. Sparring and competing will require a license being purchased through the association, and we have specialist sparring sessions which students can attend separately to our main sessions.
